The 13-story concrete Pet Milk Building was built in 1969 as the corporate headquarters for Pet Inc. The building was listed
on the National Register of Historic Places, a significant achievment for a building only 35 years old. Balke Brown
Associates plans to create 118 luxury apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows, nine-foot ceilings, in-building parking, a
lounge, fitness center and a fine-dining restaurant.

Pet Building will be transformed into luxury apartments
Construction is underway to convert the former Pet, Inc. building at 400 S. Fourth St. downtown into a luxury apartment
building with 118 units. Balke Brown Associates and Pet Plaza Partners are spending $49 million to redevelop the former
corporate headquarters of the canned milk company. The downtown landmark, known for its distinctive silhouette, will be called
Pointe 400.

Luxury apartments to be built across from new stadium
Developer Steve Brown rushed to take advantage of the new Cardinals stadium downtown, leading a group to buy the former Pet
Company headquarters at 400 south 4th Street. The building stands 16 stories high and is directly east of the new stadium.

Group plans $25 million renovation of Pet Building
Balke Brown Associates and other investors plan to spend $25 million to turn the former Pet Milk Building into apartments, it
said Monday. The group recently completed its $9.2 million purchase of the building at 400 S. Fourth St. in St. Louis,
financed by First Bank.

State issues $752K in tax credits to redevelop Pet Building

Buyer's vision is 100 apartments for Pet Building
Mothballed for months, downtown's distinctive Pet Building has a buyer - and a metamorphosis in the works.
Balke Brown Associates has the property under contract. Sale terms are not public, but here's the vision: to turn the

Pet Incorporated began in the late 1800s when John Meyenberg developed the idea of canning milk without using sugar as a
preservative. He started the Helvetia Milk Condensing Company in 1885 in Highland, IL, but moved it to St. Louis in 1921. In
1923, the company was renamed Pet Milk Company.
