Westin Hotel opens in Cupples Station
The Westin St. Louis hotel opened Thursday as one of the renovation projects in the Cupples Station redevelopment. The $75
million hotel, at the corner of Eighth and Clark streets, is managed by Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. and features
257 guest rooms, 9,000 square feet of meeting space and the Clark Street Grill restaurant.

Construction starts on 224-room Westin St. Louis
Construction has began on the 224-room Westin St. Louis, scheduled to open Sept. 1, 2000. The $55 million hotel is a key
element of the $300 million redevelopment of downtown St. Louis, which also includes a combination of office, retail, hotel,
housing and parking facilities. The Westin St. Louis will occupy three turn-of-the-century warehouses and ensure the
preservation of the complex, built between 1894 - 1917.

Cupples Sta. Becomes Catalyst for Downtown Redevelopment
Today, at the turn of a new century, Richard Baron, president and CEO of McCormack Baron & Associates, Inc., broke ground on
three of the historic buildings for the Westin St. Louis hotel. "Time was running out on these buildings," Baron related to
civic and business leaders gathered beneath the vaulted brick ceiling at one of the entrances to the complex.
